Yeah, see, that’s what turns me off entirely. I don’t take much pleasure from willingly choosing to subject my eardrums to consistent, piercing shrieking, as opposed to something more pleasant and/or rhythmic. :/

6. Have I ever been called a tease? Haha, sure, but never in a positive light. 

18. The last time I smiled? I’m smiling right now! I’m almost always smiling—not like, genuine true delighted smiles all the time but I mean…I’m surrounded by kids all day. I can’t walk around scowling all the time.

22. Definitely Amber. I am most comfortable talking to that guy about anything. He’s like my older brother, ya know? He took me in when no one else would, and I trust him with my life. 

30. Do I fall for people easily? Haha. Shit. Yeah. I’ve picked up lots of things from Amber about reading people and seeing through lies and even though I can be pretty judgemental since I can tell how most people are lying assholes…I still have a tendency to wear my heart on my sleeve, totally.

14. What makes me laugh no matter what? The kids, definitely. I’m the main caretaker of all of them and even though they can get on your nerves often, they also do the craziest stuff that you would have never thought would be funny. They remind you that pillow forts and stargazing and seeing shapes in the clouds are some of the funnest things you can do.

23. What am I not looking forward to? Hmm, that’s a tough one. I don’t really have enough time to myself to even think that far ahead. I have twenty-six kids to take care of, here. Although Balt does help, and the older kids help, too…I digress. Sorry. I’m not looking forward to having a kid in the hospital again, I suppose. It hasn’t happened in a while, but no one looks forward to that. 

28. Am I a forgiving person? I suppose I am, yeah. I can see all these people lying through their teeth or trying to hide things or not betray their emotions and yet still I guess I can find room to forgive them.

38. Cobalt lied to me about something very drastic. And did something very unforgiving, even for me. He’s got a very skewed moral compass, and it acts up sometimes. When it does act up, it’s really tough to just let things go like I usually do.

Q:For Cobalt, what are the things he geeks out over and how does he react upon being caught geeking out over said things? And what does his skateboard look like? (He sounds like my kind of character, add another to the dorky intelligent people club. XD)

Oh goodness, Balt geeks out about damn near everything. Sometimes he’ll walk into Amber’s office/room (the orphanage is in an old office building) with a wide-eyed look on his face and start talking and Amber will just humor him. Balt will be like, “Amber, holy crap, do you ever realize how completely coincidental everything is? I mean we only stopped using roman numerals NOT THAT LONG AGO. And the actual numbers we use, their symbols are so arbitrarily chosen. Dude, Amber. AMBER. This is a BIG DEAL.” 

The simplest of things can boggle his mind, as can the most complicated. Cobalt is a bit of a boy genius—it’s not hard for him to understand sciences or math or language, he really just never got the chance. In terms of geeky geeky things, he enjoys comic books and when he’s helping Amber out with the orphanage he trades chore work with the kids that let him read their comic books (I think he’d enjoy Marvel stuff just because there’s a lot of SUPERPOWERED SCIENCE DORKS in there). He’s a wee bit of a movie buff and has seen a lot of films and loves to tell stories to the kids. 

He plays guitar and did a bit of busking pre-collapse. 

His skateboard changes every so often! He collects as many decks as he finds, and has a good 30 skateboards now. He’ll teach some of the kids how to skateboard if they show genuine interest. The main board he uses has all of the handprints of the current kids at the orphanage on it. 

(Don’t be fooled by his altruism. He’s still a bit of a dick, pompous in a few unhealthy ways! Also ablooo thank you for the question! I’ve been thinking about it all evening in between packing~)

Journaling helps me. I don’t open up to people or admit my own problems (fear of conflict), so I write out what I’m feeling, then read through it again to determine if it’s legitimately how I feel and then work from there.

yeah i think i really will start journaling again

usually it ends up devolving into how much i hate the gunk in my brain so i bottle it up again and stop writing about it

I love researching the cold war and all the things happening in Russia when that stuff was going down. My mom was a kid and she tells me how the threat of war was so imminent that they were trained to put kalashnikovs together in gym class. Gas mask preparation too. So my curiosity was piqued and I started researching it more. 

YOU AND I SHOULD TALK HISTORY SOME TIME BECAUSE I’M SURE YOU KNOW TONS MORE THAN ME since all I know is just family history, haha

I’m looking at learning Russian at some point because I want to be a translator for UNESCO but because I don’t want to be in school forever I was planning to take it alongside another language (probably French) and I just now thought “I should ask Nika if she thinks that’s a bad idea” because nobody else that I’m even slightly acquainted with knows Russian. :P

This is a comfort for my formerly Spanish-studying self as I go into my first semester of Russian. XD

But really, what I noticed is that Russian and Romanian are super super super similar in so many ways, and Romanian is a romance language, so then that extended to when I was learning Spanish for, uh, 5+ years, and then my year or so of French. So I think you’ll find it easier since you have another language under your belt! C:
